Advantages:

01/

Coveted Vintage Look Straight From the Kiln
Imagine the driftwood-gray elegance of a 100-year-old barn, brought into your home without the splinters, bugs, or guesswork. Our heat treatment gives the pine a genuinely timeworn surface - think delicate cracks, a softly textured matte face, and just the right amount of roughness. Our Real Wood Beams are an instant heritage upgrade, and we never use distressing methods to get there.

02/

Made Genuinely Tough Through Nature and Heat
We begin with solid pine from FSC-verified forests, then refine it at a steady 212°C. This deep heat works like a fortress, making the wood inhospitable to bugs, resistant to moisture, and structurally unwilling to crack or splinter. The maintenance story is equally gentle: set aside an hour each year for a quick oiling, and your beams will continue to perform for many years to come.

03/

Clever Design For Easy Installation
These Real Wood Beams may look like they weigh a ton, but the hollow U-shape makes them surprisingly manageable. You can lift them overhead without strain, and you won't need to install steel brackets or call in a structural engineer. Mount them firmly with basic wood blocking - it's quick, it's safe, and it keeps your labor budget firmly in check.

Installation

Locate Joists and Secure Mounting Blocks
Use a stud finder to identify each ceiling joist. Snap a chalk line to define the precise beam path. Affix 2×4 wood cleats directly to the joists at 36-inch intervals with structural screws. These will act as the internal anchors for your beams.

Fabricate the Beam Boxes
Cut the solid wood boards to required lengths on a miter saw. Place the two side members and the bottom member face down on a flat surface. Run a continuous bead of wood glue along both seam lines, then bring the sides up to meet the bottom and tack them with a brad nailer loaded with 1.5–2-inch brads. Allow the adhesive to fully cure.

Surface Preparation and Staining
Sand the assembled boxes to eliminate any glue squeeze-out and to achieve a uniform, smooth surface. Apply a pre-stain wood conditioner, then the selected wood stain. Let the beams dry completely before proceeding.

Beam Placement and Fastening
Raise the three-sided beam and slide it over the ceiling-mounted cleats. Drill and drive screws horizontally through the beam sides into the embedded 2×4 blocks until the beam is firmly secured.

Detailing and Joint Covering
Fill all screw depressions and visible seams with a color-matched wood filler or caulk. For an authentic heavy-timber visual, cover the joints with decorative iron straps or faux-leather beam straps.

FAQ:

Q1: What distinguishes a box beam from a solid beam?

Solid beams come from a single piece of timber and are capable of bearing structural loads. Box beams are constructed from several boards shaped around a frame, offering the genuine look of wood in a lighter form. Choose based on whether your priority is carrying weight or creating visual impact.

Q2: What are the key benefits of Thermowood box beams?

Thermowood is thermally modified through its entire thickness, not just surface-treated. This delivers deeper, longer-lasting stability and resistance to rot and insects than ordinary chemically treated wood.

Q3: How long does delivery take?

After full payment, small orders ship in 7–15 days; large orders take about 30 days.

Q4: Are free samples available?

Yes, we offer free samples with shipping costs handled by you - either freight collect or prepaid.

Q5: Are box beams structural?

No, our Real Wood Beams are hollowed and decorative. However, you can wrap them around existing structural beams or posts to create the appearance of a solid timber feature.

Q6: Does carbonizing the wood improve structural strength?

Carbonization makes the wood somewhat more brittle, but it dramatically increases resistance to shrinking, warping, rot, and insects - keeping the beam dimensionally stable and attractive.

Q7: How do you install box beams?

Since they are hollow, installation is simple: mount wood cleats to the ceiling or wall, slide the beam over them, and secure with screws. This method is perfect for retrofitting. See our installation guide for step-by-step details, or contact us with any questions.

Q8: Can I request custom dimensions and finishes?

Yes. We can tailor the color, style, and exact size to fit your specific design needs.

About Us

Many projects require several coordinated wood elements rather than a single product. MUMU provides one-stop development and manufacturing for exterior wall cladding, outdoor ceilings, decorative beams, furniture, trims, and custom architectural components.

Working with one factory helps customers coordinate wood species, colors, textures, profiles, and packaging across an entire collection or project. Our team can review drawings, prepare samples, manufacture matching items, and manage quality standards across different product categories.

This integrated approach is useful for villas, hotels, restaurants, resorts, retail environments, and landscape developments where visual consistency is important. It also simplifies communication and purchasing for distributors and project suppliers. With experienced engineering, production, finishing, quality-control, and export teams, MUMU supports customers from early design discussions through final shipment. We aim to provide a practical and dependable source for customized architectural wood products.
