Advantages:

01/

Genuine Rustic Weathered Texture:The heat treatment gives the surface a naturally aged, timeworn look - subtle checks, matte texture, and a slightly distressed appearance that mimic reclaimed barn wood without any artificial distressing.

02/

Advanced Material & Durability: Engineered from FSC verified pine wood, these beams offer excellent durability and structural integrity. Our thermo wood beams are resistant to pests and moisture thanks to our precise 212°C carbonize process. They will not crack, splinter, any requires only annual oiling maintenance.

03/

Effortless Installation: Despite their heavy-duty appearance, these U-shaped beams are incredibly lightweight. This makes them safe and easy to handle, eliminating the need for heavy structural support. Installation is straightforward and can be easily and securely mounted using simple wood blocking, saving you significant time and labor costs.

Installation

1. Mark the Ceiling and Attach Cleats
Find the ceiling joists using a stud finder. Snap a chalk line to mark where your beams will go. Screw 2×4 wood blocks (cleats) directly into the ceiling joists every 36 inches. These blocks will serve as the anchors to hold your beams.

2. Assemble the Beam Boxes
Cut your real wood boards to the lengths needed using a miter saw. Lay your side pieces and bottom piece flat, face down. Apply a line of wood glue along the joints, fold the two sides up against the bottom piece, and secure the edges using a brad nailer with 1.5 to 2-inch nails. Let the glue cure completely.

3. Sand and Stain
Sand the assembled beam boxes to remove any glue squeeze-out and smooth the wood. Apply a pre-stain wood conditioner, followed by your choice of wood stain. Allow the beams to dry completely before installation.

4. Install the Beams
Lift the 3-sided beam and slide it directly over your ceiling cleats. Secure the beam to the hidden cleats by driving screws through the sides of the beam into the 2×4 blocks.

5. Finish and Touch Up
Use a matching colored wood putty or caulk to cover any screw holes or visible seams. For a classic, heavy-timber look, cover the joints with decorative iron or faux-leather beam straps.

FAQ:

Q1: What is the difference between boxed beams and solid beams?

Solid beams are made from a single, solid piece of wood and are ideal for structural applications or where maximum strength is needed. Box beams, on the other hand, are constructed from multiple pieces of wood around a solid core. Both offer the beauty of natural wood, but the choice depends on your specific design and installation needs.

Q2: What are the benefits of Thermowood box beams?

Thermowood is more structurally sound. Because the thermal modification enhances durability throughout the entire wood rather than just the surface, it outruns regular chemically treated wood in long-term stability.

Q3: What is the estimated delivery time?

Production and shipping times vary by order size. Standard orders are dispatched within 7-15 days upon receipt of full payment, whereas large-scale projects typically take around 30 days.

Q4: Are product samples available?

Yes, we are happy to provide free samples. Shipping costs can be handled via freight collect or prepaid arrangements.

Q5: Are box beams structurally supportive?

Box beams are typically decorative and not load-bearing. However, they can be used to wrap structural elements like existing beams or steel posts. They offer the appearance of solid timbers without the weight or complexity of installing true structural beams.

Q6: Is carbonized wood box beams structurally stronger?

While the thermal process makes the wood slightly more brittle, it significantly enhances dimensional stability. It is far more resistant to shrinking, warping, rot, and insect damage compared to standard siding.

Q7: How are box beams installed?

Installation is relatively simple compared to solid beams. Because they're hollow, box beams can be mounted using blocking or cleats attached to the ceiling or wall. This makes them ideal for retrofitting into existing spaces with minimal structural modifications. For more detailed instructions, please check the installations section above or reach out to us. We'll be happy to answer your installation related problems.

Q8: Do you accept custom specifications?

Definitely. We can tailor colors, styles, and exact dimensions to meet your specific architectural requirements.

About Us

Successful custom products require more than manufacturing capacity. They require a team that can understand an idea, identify production risks, develop samples, and prepare the design for repeatable production. MUMU provides structured product development support for outdoor wood cladding, ceilings, furniture, faux beams, and decorative architectural components.

Our development process can begin with sketches, drawings, photographs, samples, or general market requirements. The team reviews materials, dimensions, construction, finishing methods, installation details, cost targets, and packaging needs. Prototype samples are then produced for evaluation and adjustment.

Once the design is approved, technical details are transferred to production and quality-control teams. This helps reduce variation and prevents important design features from being lost during scale-up. Through continuous development of new profiles, finishes, textures, and constructions, MUMU helps customers create differentiated products and respond quickly to changing architectural and outdoor-living trends.
