Advantages:

01/

Exceptional Dimensional Integrity and Durability
Through a precisely controlled 212°C thermal modification, the cellular architecture of MUMU Carbonized Pine is permanently reconfigured. This process expels bound water and drastically lowers the equilibrium moisture content, rendering the wood highly resistant to cupping, shrinkage, splitting, and expansion. The result is unwavering dimensional stability even under severe humidity fluctuations.

02/

Inherent Biological Resistance
The 212°C treatment denatures the natural sugars and starches within MUMU Carbonized Pine, effectively eliminating the nutritional foundation required by decay fungi, molds, and wood-boring insects. Consequently, the material achieves robust, long-term defense against rot and infestation without reliance on synthetic biocides.

03/

Chemically Safe and Environmentally Sound
MUMU Carbonized Pine is manufactured exclusively through a physical process utilizing heat and steam; no harmful chemical additives are introduced. The only optional addition is a water-based UV protective coating, ensuring the product remains a non-toxic, emission-free green building material.

04/

Superior Resistance to Fire
Having already undergone carbonization at 212°C, MUMU Carbonized Pine possesses a pre-formed char layer. This insulating barrier retards flame propagation, prevents the formation of flaming droplets, and significantly reduces smoke generation during combustion, offering markedly improved fire safety compared to untreated timber.

05/

Customizable Finish and Color
A selection of light and dark UV-inhibiting oils is available to moderate the natural silvering effect of sunlight. For projects demanding a bold architectural statement, deep Black and sophisticated Silver Grey options are also offered.

06/

Refined Visual and Tactile Qualities
The 212°C process deepens the intrinsic tones of MUMU Carbonized Pine to rich browns, warm caramels, and charcoal hues. Concurrently, it accentuates the grain structure, yielding a consistent, matte surface with an elegant tactile quality that imparts warmth and a premium feel.

07/

Minimal Upkeep and Extended Service Life
Owing to its enhanced hydrophobicity and resistance to UV degradation and biological agents, MUMU thermowood requires very little maintenance. With a simple annual oiling routine, the material delivers a proud 15–20 year lifespan, eliminating the necessity for frequent repainting or aggressive chemical treatments.

08/

Broad Spectrum of Applications
MUMU Carbonized Pine demonstrates exceptional versatility across both indoor and outdoor environments. Typical installations include exterior cladding, rainscreen siding, decking, interior flooring, sauna paneling, and custom furniture, accommodating both contemporary minimalist and rustic vernacular styles.

09/

Comprehensive Support and Proven Track Record
Our thermowood is a premier substrate for cladding, decking, and sauna interiors, capable of being painted, oiled, glued, treated with optional fire-retardant coatings, or left in its natural state. Leveraging nearly 20 years of manufacturing and design expertise, our thermowood solutions have achieved a 95% client retention rate so far.

Installation

To achieve durable installation, follow these steps precisely:

Framework: Use stainless steel or corrosion-resistant battens sized 25 × 45 mm, setting them at regular spacings between 600 and 1000 mm.

Fastening: Anchor each board firmly with 3 to 4 anti-rust self-tapping screws, distributing them evenly.

Protection: Before fixing, thoroughly coat all end grain and the entire back surface of every board with a high-quality protective oil. This final measure dramatically prolongs the cladding's life.

FAQ:

Q1: How do I care for my thermally modified wood in a natural way?

Caring for it is refreshingly simple. You can embrace the organic silver patina that appears over time, completely maintenance-free. To keep the warm, original colour, simply nourish the wood periodically with a natural tinted penetrating oil.

Q2: Why is painted thermowood a wiser choice than conventional painted cladding?

Because the wood itself is transformed, not just coated. The entire Carbonized Pine board gains inherent stability and durability, which reduces the need for repainting and avoids the surface breakdown common with regular painted wood.

Q3: When can I expect delivery of my order?

For smaller orders, we usually ship within 7 to 15 days after receiving full payment. Larger, bulk orders need around 30 days to prepare carefully.

Q4: May I receive a sample to feel the quality?

Of course. We are happy to provide a free sample. You simply arrange and cover the shipping, either via freight collect or by prepaying.

Q5: Is the production genuinely free from chemicals?

Absolutely. Our process honors a time-tested, traditional method: only the element of fire and pure natural oils, with zero chemical additives introduced.

Q6: How does the strength of carbonized wood measure up to standard siding?

It's naturally more resilient against decay, insects, and moisture movements. You may notice it is a little more brittle, yet it possesses far greater dimensional strength, resisting the warping and shrinkage that plague untreated wood.

Q7: What lifespan can I realistically expect?

With thoughtful, simple care, anticipate 10 to 15 years of life outdoors for our Carbonized Pine, and a significantly extended lifespan for interior applications.

Q8: Do you accommodate custom specifications?

Happily. We can adjust the wood species, joinery details, colour, and dimensions to align perfectly with your project's requirements.
