Description:

MUMU Light Colored Carbonized Wood Shingles are made from selected Finnish pine and thermally modified under controlled conditions. A light-toned finish keeps the grain, knots, and natural variation visible, giving the installed surface a warm appearance without the visual weight of a deep-charred color.

The overlapping layout creates natural shadow lines and a layered texture that changes subtly throughout the day. Designed for wall-cladding and decorative applications, these shingles suit residential facades, entrance features, garden buildings, hospitality interiors, cabins, and other projects where real wood character is part of the design.

Why Choose the Light-Tone Finish?

01/

Warm, natural appearance. The lighter carbonized tone highlights Finnish pine grain and works comfortably with stone, concrete, metal, glass, and neutral interior palettes.

02/

Better dimensional behavior. Controlled thermal modification lowers the wood's tendency to absorb moisture, helping the shingles remain more stable as humidity and temperature change.

03/

Layered architectural texture. Individual pieces create depth, irregular shadow, and a handcrafted rhythm that flat cladding panels cannot easily reproduce.

04/

Suitable for varied design styles. The soft wood color can support Scandinavian, Japanese-inspired, coastal, rustic, and contemporary architecture without making the elevation feel overly dark.

05/

Easy to handle on site. The compact pieces are practical to position, trim, and arrange around corners or feature areas. Installation should still be completed over a correctly designed wall system.

06/

Project-specific production. Dimensions, profiles, tonal direction, surface texture, and coating can be developed to coordinate with the project's drawings and approved sample.

FAQ:

Q1. Where can the light-colored shingles be used?

They are intended primarily for exterior sidewalls, facades, entrance features, garden structures, and selected interior walls or ceilings. The supporting construction, drainage plane, ventilation, and fixing method must be suitable for the application.

Q2. Are they recommended for roofs?

The standard product is developed as decorative wall cladding rather than a certified roofing system. Roof use requires separate assessment of pitch, overlap, waterproofing, wind loading, shingle grade, and local code requirements. Please send the roof drawings and project location for review.

Q3. Will outdoor exposure alter the light color?

Yes. Sunlight, rain, airborne dirt, orientation, and climate will gradually influence any natural wood finish. A factory-applied water-based exterior coating with UV-resistant additives can slow this process, but it cannot permanently stop weathering.

Q4. Is another coating needed immediately after installation?

A full recoating is usually unnecessary when factory-finished shingles arrive intact. Installers should seal cut ends and damaged areas during fitting. Exterior surfaces should then be inspected periodically and recoated with a compatible system when the finish shows visible wear.

Q5. Can the product be specified for humid or seaside locations?

Thermal modification improves resistance to moisture uptake, but successful performance also depends on the complete wall design. In humid or coastal environments, provide drainage and rear ventilation and select fasteners and coatings for the local corrosion and exposure level.

Q6. Why do individual pieces look slightly different?

Finnish pine naturally varies in grain, knots, and density. Light finishes make those features more visible, and small tonal changes can also occur during carbonization and coating. These differences are expected and contribute to the finished wall's natural depth.

Q7. Which details can be customized?

Options may include species, piece dimensions, thickness, lower-edge shape, surface brushing, carbonized tone, and coating. For a custom finish, we recommend approving a physical sample or small mock-up before bulk production.

Q8. What is the minimum order quantity and production time?

The standard minimum order quantity is 10 square meters. Lead time is confirmed after the quantity, specifications, finish, packaging, and current production schedule have been reviewed.
