A Hexagonal Pattern with Visible Wood Grain
The hexagon wood wall panels shown in the factory form a honeycomb pattern. Changes in the direction of the visible wood grain add movement across the surface, while the lighter borders help define each shape. The result balances a bold black appearance with the variation of real wood.
Warm lighting accents around selected hexagons add another point of contrast. Against the dark panels, the illuminated edges draw attention to the geometry and create focal points within the wider wall layout.
Seen as a whole, the wall reads as a graphic composition. Up close, the grain and the differences between individual pieces become more apparent.
A Timely Connection to U.S. Wellness Design
This project arrives as wellness spaces and more expressive natural materials feature in U.S. home design discussions. Houzz's 2026 U.S. Fall Design Trends Report, published on September 2, highlights interest in material texture and personal expression, while identifying saunas among the wellness amenities being considered in home design. houzz.com
Earlier in the year, Houzz reported that U.S.-based searches for "wellness room" increased 164% on its platform, comparing January–March 2026 with January–March 2025. The Houzz Blog
For MUMU, these themes provide useful context for the project: sauna wall cladding is an opportunity to combine a clear design direction with the character of wood.
Custom Details That Shape the Wall
With this custom poplar wall panel design, color, grain direction and pattern work together. The hexagonal arrangement gives the wall a different rhythm from straight plank layouts, while the pale outlines keep the geometry visible across the dark surface.
For buyers planning a similar look, a useful starting point is the complete wall elevation. Overall dimensions, the desired pattern, edge details and any proposed lighting should be considered together when discussing the design. Reference images can then help communicate the balance between a bold overall effect and the amount of visible wood texture.
